If you were to ask wine lovers what variety comes to mind when they think of Dry Creek Valley, the vast majority would probably respond “Zinfandel!” While there’s no denying that Zinfandel has found a very comfortable home in Dry Creek Valley, other varieties have a long history of thriving here as well, including one of our favorites, Petite Sirah. This “Pet” (as the old-timers call it) is a blend of 45% Del Carlo Ranch and 55% Teldeschi Ranch. Zero percent new oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Dry Creek Valley Petite Sirah

Tasting Note:

Black-purple. Opaque. Deep, captivating aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice, and vanilla (remember though, no new oak). On the palate, full-bodied but surprisingly civilized with fine tannins leading to a long finish. One of the most concentrated and balanced Petite Sirahs I’ve tasted in a long time. Enjoyable now through 2020. (MRO – 07/17/09)
